Wedding Details: What To Bring For Your Wedding Day

Jan 7, 2025

One of the last-minute texts I never want to get from my couples, “What wedding details do we need?” I like to give my couples with this information as soon as we start working together. Beyond this wedding details checklist, I have additional resources to help my couples in their wedding planning process. As your wedding photographer, I want to ensure you feel completely prepared for your big day. That means planning ahead—especially when it comes to your wedding details checklist.

I’m all about sharing helpful tips (no gatekeeping here)! I’m going to share this wedding details checklist with you—even if you’re not one of my couples!

Before we dive in, let’s get something clear: there is no one-size-fits-all approach to wedding detail photos. You can bring anything that’s meaningful to you and your partner. Your details can be as extravagant or as minimalistic as you like. The key is choosing what feels personal and important. Use these recommendations as simply that – a recommendation.

Now, let’s break this down this checklist into two categories: one for the bride and one for the groom. Some items may overlap, and others may not apply to you at all. This is just a guide, not a strict list. Ready to dive in? Let’s go through your wedding details checklist!

Wedding Details Checklist for Bride

1. Your Wedding Attire

You’ll want to pack everything that you will be wearing on your wedding day. This includes shoes, jewelry, rings, your wedding dress, veil, bouquet, and getting-ready attire. I’ll be able to document some beautiful shots prior to you putting them on.

2. Stationary

You’ll want to pack up at least one full set of all your paper goods. Pack each piece of your full stationary & invitation set. Set aside your vow books, and any love letters you’ve written to each other. Bonus: I can deliver those love letters right after photographing them rather then you assigning that task.

3. All the Special Items

Have a special perfume you’ll be wearing exclusively on your wedding day? Or maybe you’re bringing a family heirloom as your “something borrowed”? Place sentimental items you want captured in your wedding detail photos in the box you’ve set aside. Bonus: Asking your florist to set aside some extra flowers to add to your flat lay can be beautiful additional!

Wedding Details Check List for the Groom

1. Your Wedding Attire

Just like the bride, you’ll want to make sure you pack everything you’ll be wearing on your wedding day! In a seperate box, put smaller items like your shoes, socks, cuff links, watch, tie, ring box with ring(s), and the boutonniere or pocket square. These may seem like a small part of the groom’s outfit, but you’ll have the images to look back on.

2. Special and Unique Items

Don’t forget to pack any special items that your groom holds dear for his wedding day photos. This may include personal touches like his vow book, a heartfelt letter from the bride, groomsmen gifts, a personalized flask and his favorite cologne. These thoughtful details will add meaningful touch to the wedding detail photos, making them even more personal.
